The Sun

The above photo compilation  is the sun on the same day as seen through various types of filters, such as intense UV, etc. Our sun is an amazing star. Yesterday though, it did something even more interesting and somewhat rare, it had double CMEs (coronol mass ejections).  http://spaceweather.com/images2011/28jan11/doubleblast.gif?PHPSESSID=v0qf1c74udbl06ubj6duiu6v17 (It runs in a loop, so give it a moment to load and run through twice). Very cool indeed!  In the next one, there is a global disruption across the upper north western quadrant of the sun.  http://science.nasa.gov/media/medialibrary/2010/12/13/globaldisruption.mov (Again, let it load properly then watch it, as these are small videos).  Here is a huge CME as seen from a different space probe.  http://spaceweather.com/images2011/28jan11/cme_c2.gif?PHPSESSID=v0qf1c74udbl06ubj6duiu6v17
